We all stand back and marvel when we observe a young child lovingly caring for a sibling or a pet. It is indeed a beautiful sight to behold and it is so often spontaneous! We also note as they grow, this scenario becomes less the norm. Maybe that’s why we stop and enjoy it so much. But what if it could develop into the norm? (At least for our children.) How do we foster a caring attitude in our children that will continue to grow as they do?
The answer may be pretty simple… model the behavior yourself and practice it often. You are the best role model for those little eyes and you won’t need to lecture about showing compassion. Live your life as if the most important people in the world are watching because guess what? They are!
