The ABCs of Emotions + Me: K is for Kindness

Kindness as a picture word evokes scenes of rescuing an injured animal or a child offering a hug to a sad friend. It is a picture of helping hands and loving smiles. It encompasses all the best of the human experience. It is affection, caring, gentleness and concern. It includes kind thoughts, kind deeds and plenty of smiles!!!

Kindness is also an action word. Practicing random acts of kindness can go a long way in creating a favorable impression on your child. Volunteering for a soup kitchen or a book fair also increases the kindness quotient. It’s easy and fun to share these moments with your children while working together to improve the circumstances of others. These are invaluable life lessons.

But our best impression of kindness comes from observing the little ones when they show the compassion that we’ve encouraged to others. There is no greater joy that we can experience than watching them be kind.
